At the Dog Track

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

There were about 23 of us from the FamCamp at Ebro, the local dog track. Military gets in free. Three and a half hours of racing. We started the day at the Panama Cafe for breakfast, followed by a visit to the winery, the track and then Boon Docks for dinner. More on the rest of the day later.

Opera in a Trunk

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

The Pensacola Opera put on a performance at the Recreation Center on 14 Feb. It was designed to educate grade schoolers about opera and I guess they thought we had regressed enough to make it worth while. Basically, audience participation directed the opera and the players improvised their roles and made up songs to keep the opera going. As opera terms were used a narrator explained their meaning. This was an interesting, fun and educational hour.

The Tin Shack ( I think) is a nautical antique shop with tons of interesting things including old charts (the sand bars have probably shifted), sharks teeth (very large), etc.

Each table of four gets a deck of cards to distribute. A caller draws cards at random from his deck and as a card is called all players with that card discard it. First person with no cards left gets bingo.

ON the Sixth Day we got a site

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

What a nice feeling. Our own site. No sewer but we have everything else.

Last Thursday we went to the Recreation Hall for Card Bingo. Each table of four gets a deck of cards that are distributed to the four players. Then Ron, the host, calls cards at random and players discard those cards. First one to get rid of all their cards wins.

Fourth Day of the Dance

Monday, February 4th, 2008

We started on the site list as number 8 and are now number 4. Still no hot water. Maybe later today. Back a couple of weeks ago six of us from the campground played golf with the Happy Hackers a local group that plays on different courses each month. This time it was at Tyndall.
